About the Artist
Tracy Hurley
Maker of paintings, drawings, and monoprints

I've loved drawing and art for as long as I can remember, but I only developed a regular practice later in life. I have spent most of my years immersed in science, first getting a PhD in biology, and later using that background to support a career in science communication. I currently work part time at an animation house where I storyboard, animate, and record voiceover for educational biology animations. It's work I find genuinely satisfying. Science and visual storytelling overlap more than most people expect, and there's always something new to figure out.
Art keeps me in that same mode of discovery. There's always another technique to explore, something new to understand about composition, some gap between what I see and what ends up on the canvas. The more I learn, the more meaningful and engaging the creative process becomes. For me, art is both a discipline of observation and a lifelong journey of growth, and that tantalizing mix always draws me back to the studio.
